The 1996 original starred Will
Smith, Bill Pullman, Jeff Goldblum, Randy Quaid,
Mary McDonnell, Brent Spiner, James Duval and
Vivica A. Fox. Emmerich confirmed that a number
of the original film's characters will appear in the
sequel, but Will Smith will not be returning.
It would be released in 2016.
