I’m willing to bet if you walked up to ten people
on the street and asked them “What happened to
Batman’s parents?” at least nine of would
correctly answer “They were murdered.” They
could also probably tell you that it was by a
mugger in a back alley. And yet Batman v
Superman: Dawn of Justice will apparently need
to tell us yet again that Thomas and Martha
Wayne were gunned down in front of their young
son, Bruce Wayne, thus teaching him that crime
is bad, and that the best way to fight it is to
dress up like a giant rodent and be a vigilante.
I’ll admit that’s a tad reductive, but it’s also true
that we don’t need to see the Waynes die again.
We especially don’t need to see it in Batman v
Superman , which features an older, more
experienced Batman ( Ben Affleck). This is not
an origin story, which, by the way, we will never
need for Batman ever again unless something is
radically altered in his history like being a
computer programmer named Bruce Wain. But
new set photo and videos shows that we’ll be
getting the Dark Knight’s life-changing event for
the umpteenth time. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens
March 25, 2016.
