The first Z for Zachariah image has been released
online, introducing us to director Craig Zobel’s
( Compliance) adaptation of Robert C. O’Brien ’s
post-apocalyptic 1974 novel of the same name.
The story revolves around a woman who believes
she is the only survivor after a devastating
nuclear event, only to have two strangers come
across her small farm. The Wolf of Wall Street
actress Margot Robbie plays the lead role, while
Chris Pine and one of last year’s Best Actor
Oscar nominees, 12 Years a Slave star Chiwetel
Ejiofor, play the two strangers. The debut image
doesn’t really tell us much about the film (other
than the fact that Robbie is gorgeous no matter
her hair color, obviously), but it’s an extremely
curious choice of material for Zobel, who gained
plenty of buzz for his 2012 small-scale character
drama Compliance .
